Access to this paradise is via the small village of El Nido. A place of incredible natural beauty, this archipelago boasts imposing limestone and karst cliffs. The scenery is reminiscent of Krabi, Phang Nga Bay and Koh Phi Phi in Thailand, but with even more majesty and fewer crowds... You can glide along in a banca between forty-five islands and islets surrounded by an immensity of water ranging from turquoise to emerald green to deep blue. These islands, whose cliffs are sometimes impressive, are home to incredible lagoons, small tropical forests, caves and an abundance of underwater life that is a delight for snorkeling enthusiasts. The beauty of the beaches and coves is breathtaking. Thousands of sea swallows ( salanganes) nest in cliff cavities; their nests are the main ingredient of a famous soup, a refined Chinese delicacy. Whether you're a lazy visitor or a hyperactive kayaker, hiker or spelunker, you'll be delighted by Mother Nature's generosity in this little corner of the world. Bacuit Bay is also very popular with divers, with no fewer than 30 dive sites. You can observe dugongs, manta rays, turtles and a host of colorful fish. For over 30 years, these waters have been part of the largest protected marine reserve in the Philippines (360 km2). This "last frontier" is best explored byisland hopping from El Nido.
