Billom was an important stage on the Roman road that linked Lyon to Bordeaux, before becoming a famous university town in the Middle Ages. Its medieval quarter is particularly well preserved. In addition to the Saint-Cerneuf church, you can see the Chapter house (15th century), the Alderman's house (15th or 16th century) and a number of old timber-framed houses, especially in the rue des Boucheries.
