This capital ofaimag with more than 30 000 inhabitants is very close to the Russian border, to which it is directly connected by a highway. It is a pleasant city, which can be a good starting point for the exploration ofaimag, but which remains little visited in spite of its very beautiful landscapes. It is indeed located a few kilometers from the Uvs lake, which gave its name to the province. It is one of the lowest points of the country, at an altitude of 939 meters above sea level. The city has several important buildings: monuments from the communist era, a university, a specialized high school and no less than five schools.
