Travel Guide Tsagaan Nuur

Located 25 km west of Lake Khövsgöl, and outside the boundaries of the natural park, Tsagaan Nuur is in the heart of a vast depression once covered by a glacier. Not to be confused with the great white lake (Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur) much further south. Around the main lake, there are countless small lakes, remnants of the ice age. They will make the joy of the fishermen. The area is known as the Darkhad Valley. Very wild, it remains difficult of access. This is where the main Tsaatan camps are located, which can preserve their traditional way of life thanks to the low contact with the outside world. The pretty village of Tsagaan Nuur is the last place where you can do some shopping before going to see the Tsataan.
