The capital ofaimag, with a population of about 40,000, is a small provincial town that has been left somewhat abandoned. The gersuburbs are spread around a city center with a relatively large and deserted square, and a few administrative and commercial buildings. The market is the heart of it. The atmosphere of Mörön is nevertheless pleasant. It remains a very popular city for tourists who stop here from Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan or Erdenet, before reaching Lake Khövsgöl, three hours drive north, on a paved road. From the city center, you can see the surrounding hills, beautiful. A good introduction to visit the region, and go further north, towards the Khovsgol lake.
