KHARAGIIN MONASTERY

The main attraction of this small monastery is a large tree in the main courtyard, covered with blue khatag , the traditional silk ceremonial scarves, offered by visitors. Once more important, it too suffered severe damage during the "Great Repression" of the late 1930s. The strong community around it allowed it to find the necessary donations for its reconstruction. It is active again today and ceremonies, prayers and songs can be seen there, especially in the morning.
