If there is a museum to visit, it is this one. The collections will allow travelers to immerse themselves in the fascinating history of the country. The museum is divided into a dozen rooms that cover the Mongolian past from prehistory to the present day.

The top floor tells the story of the founding of the Mongolian empire, the largest in the world. In addition to the warlike exploits of Chinggis Khaan from the 13th century, one can also observe an emblematic stone from the early days of the national union, known as the "Chinggis inscription". It is the first Mongolian monument with writings. Following a crucial victory of Chinggis Khaan's troops over Sartool, a great celebration took place. According to the stone, an archery tournament was organized and the winner - the son or nephew of Chinggis Khaan - shot an arrow from more than 500 meters.

A little further on, a superb model of Kharkhorin, the capital of the empire at the time, as it existed in the mid-thirteenth century, occupies the space. The many gates of the city had their own names and, even then, the various religions lived in perfect harmony. The replica of the Khaan palace is faithful to the original of the time, and allows to see how much it dominated the whole city. On the same floor, the following rooms cover the Manchu occupation (from the 16th to the 19th century), the period of the Bogd Khan, the Soviet domination and the advent of democracy in 1991.
