SANTO ALEXANDRE CHURCH - MUSEU DE ARTE SACRA
Well-restored Baroque church housing the Pará Museum of Sacred Art with statues and religious objects
Built by the Jesuits in the 17th century, the Santo Alexandre church houses Pará's interesting Museum of Sacred Art. Inaugurated in 1719, the city's first church is an important heritage in the country. Its four-storey Baroque façade has been beautifully restored. The interior features a nave, eight side chapels and richly carved wooden elements.
The museum's collection includes statues and religious objects in wood and silver from the 18th and 19th centuries.
