Medo Island is one of the smallest islands in the Bay of All Saints. Just 12,000 m² in size, it is one of the bay's major ecological hotspots. Its entire territory is included in the region's first APA (environmental protection area). It is covered in restinga vegetation and surrounded entirely by mangroves, whose mangroves are home to numerous species of terrestrial and marine animals. The island can be visited on the way to Itaparica by fishing boat. You can only disembark and take a dip in the sea at high tide. The island is home to the ruins of a former military garrison.
