The Rio São Francisco, 3 100 km long and navigable over 1 000 km, is the second largest river in the country. The Rio São Francisco can be sailed from Pira-Pora to the north of the state, to Juazeiro in Pernambuco state. The trip takes place in large barges, carrying mainly raw materials, but occasionally can take a handful of visitors on board. There are few cabins (small), but they are almost comfortable; If not, you should be able to suspend a hammock. On board, besides fishing (shooting the rifle is optional) and drinking a blow with the crew, there is not much to do, and we quickly toured the boat. The landscape is rather flat and monotonous, we cross regions with little relief, it becomes fascinating. If you get to empathize with the captain, he can make a prize. Departures are infrequent and irregular. Take at least eight or nine days of travel to Ibotirama, two thirds of the journey, where you get off, if you're fed up, to catch a bus for Salvador via Lençois.
