Ruins of an aqueduct in Bicame de Pedra, 12 km from the center of Catas Altas, with a staircase built into the side of the gate.

12 km from the centre of Catas Altas, in the middle of a sublime mountain landscape, you can see the ruins of a stone aqueduct, built in 1792 to supply the town. The aqueduct of Bicame de Pedra was built by slaves in 1792 to collect water from Serra do Caraça to Brumado, where gold was extracted and washed. Today, about 100 meters of the monument remain. A staircase built into the side of the portal gives access to the upper part of the aqueduct. The access road from Catas Altas is in poor condition.
