Museum opposite the Municipal Theatre, featuring a permanent exhibition of Brazilian Impressionist works
Opposite the Municipal Theater, and also built at the beginning of the century, it is the main museum in Rio for collections of Brazilian art from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The permanent exhibition presents Brazilian impressionist works (Eliseo Visconti) in the style of Pissarro and Renoir, and contemporary art also from local artists. The 20th century gallery on the second floor is the most interesting, with Di Cavalcanti's large fresco, Navio Negreiro.

Un peu déçue par les reproductions, notamment d'oeuvres exposées au Musée du Louvre' plutôt vieillissantes ; avec tout ce que les réserves de ce grand musée regorgent, il est vraiment dommage de leur prêter de vraies sculptures !!
