The Nou Bar is a curious place: you enter via an unassuming staircase and then enter a fabulously decorated room that looks like something out of a 1950s film. A meeting point for families, friends, couples, young and old, this bar with its creaky parquet floor and incredible cachet, full of Art Nouveau details, has been what it is since owner Joan Saura decided to take it over in 1986. Here, you can eat simple, well-crafted dishes at any time of day, have a drink or listen to live music... A jewel!

The aptly named Dolcevite Vinoteca is the ultimate wine bar! Located right in the center of town, the cozy little premises occupy a corner of the street and are the perfect stop-off for a toast to jazzy music. In store, an impressive collection of local and Spanish wines, as well as more exotic and select labels! You can also accompany your tasting with a few well-made bruschettas from a variety of recipes. In short, an elegant little counter that will delight discerning palates.

Ses Palmeras is a small, simple bar with a pleasant terrace overlooking the Plaza Colom, in the shade of the palm trees (hence the name). It is run by Roberto, a friendly Italian expatriate in Menorca. You can stop here for a good breakfast, a solid meal based on homemade dishes at noon, consider an ice-cream cone in the afternoon, or have a drink between dog and wolf. It is worth noting that we tasted the best cappuccino in Maó at Ses Palmeras!

Bandidu is THE meeting place for locals on the port. Set in a former warehouse with brick walls, the décor is reminiscent of a 1960s American pub, with an arty rock feel. The single, huge service room, with the vast island bar at its center, is made up of a collection of different, warm spaces. At the end of the day, you'll find yourself at Bandidu for a cocktail or a beer, but also for a few solid, well-made snacks that aren't necessarily super-healthy. Live music and dance floor.
