Sa Dragonera is an island 6 km long and 360 m high, covered by Mediterranean scrubland and inhabited by a fauna whose most famous representatives are the sea hawk and the sargantana, a lizard that, because of its appearance, would have given its name to the island. Temporarily occupied in prehistoric times, archaeologists have also found Roman amphorae and Arab ceramics. In the Middle Ages, it served as a refuge for pirates sailing the seas. In 1851, a first lighthouse was built on the site of Sa Popia, of which some remains remain. Classified as a natural park, the island is ideal for hiking, diving (with Scuba Activa) and bird watching
