Just a few kilometers from Sant Francesc and Es Pujols, the small village of Sant Ferran de Ses Roques is the former cradle of hippie culture. The upper part of the village has retained the electric charm of that era. The mythical Fonda Pepe has played host to world-famous stars such as Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd. Across the street, Formentera's bohemian artists display their creations at the art market stalls. In the evenings, musicians take over the village square to strum their guitars. The pedestrian lanes come alive and you can feel the nostalgia of flower power culture. Sant Ferran may be a little crowded, but it's a great place to dine or have a drink in an old-fashioned atmosphere. During the summer months, the village is regularly enlivened by plays and concerts. The small 18th-century stone church sits enthroned on the cobblestones of the village square. Originally erected near the saltworks, the building had to be moved to the center of the island in 1883, as its walls were crumbling and the salt was attacking the fragile walls.Just 2 km from the village, you'll find the superb Cala en Baster, a rocky cove surrounded by sheer cliffs and turquoise waters. This natural harbor is perfect for snorkeling! You can also climb the cliffs to enjoy a panoramic view of Ibiza.
