Santa Eulària des Riu has a history and a heritage, and even when the visitors are no longer here, it continues to lead its usual life. Small in size, it is certainly the most family-friendly town on the island, but also the most lively in winter. Located in the east of the island, 15 km from the center of Ibiza, Santa Eulària des Riu and its 35,000 inhabitants is divided into three areas or neighborhoods: the old town, which is built on a hill on top of which stands a white fortified church dating from the sixteenth century; the Plaça d'Espanya and the Carrer Sant Vicent with their many restaurants, the most lively area in summer; and finally the marina and the beach, both adjoining. The old town, surrounded by a street that winds through it, is completely paved. Rich houses are hidden behind dense hedges and are topped by the town's church. Don't miss the walk to the church at nightfall: from the top you can enjoy the magical view of the island. The area between Plaça Espanya and Carrer Sant Vincent is the busiest in the summer. In fact, carrer Sant Vincent is converted into a pedestrian street in the summer. The marina resembles a small village, and car traffic is highly regulated. There are many good places to have lunch or dinner here, just a stone's throw from the beach. The seafront walk is also very pleasant at sunset.
