The vast municipality of Sant Josep occupies the whole of southern Ibiza - with the small villages of Sant Jordi, Es Cubells and Sant Agustí in its bosom - and its inhabitants live mainly on the many hills and near the beaches and other small coves around. The old town of Sant Josep is worth a visit for its authenticity, and it is a pleasure to stroll through the shady terraces of the main square, which is lively at all hours of the day and evening. The walk in the narrow streets lined with wide sidewalks remains pleasant in spite of the souvenir stores which attract many tourists when the summer is in full swing. One lingers on the terrace sipping a coffee or tasting some refreshing ice cream or fresh fruit juice... A seductive perfume of yesteryear persists here, against all odds, especially around the beautiful white church of Sant Josep dating from the 18th century and housing an antique altarpiece that is well worth a look. On March 19, the village honors its patron saint, Joseph, at the same time as the arrival of spring: superb fireworks were organized! Folk dance groups, a true living memory of the soul of the island, prepare dance performances for the occasion, with a lot of old costumes! An event not to be missed if you pass by Sant Josep at the end of March. If the car remains the best vehicle to get there, buses 8 and 9 will take you there easily.
