Nakuru, the county seat of Nakuru County, is a bustling city with a population of over 300,000, making it the fourth largest urban centre in the country, after Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu. The city does not have much to offer travellers. However, it is an interesting stopover for visiting the region and, more particularly, Nakuru National Park, which is located five minutes from the city centre. This small park has the particularity of attracting a multitude of birds, notably pink flamingos, the emblem of Lake Nakuru, which covers about a third of its surface. Accommodation is available in town or in the park, depending on budget.
