Even further south, Puerto Etén, a ghost town out of a western movie, sinks into the sand as if into oblivion. The once aristocratic houses, the railroad track where the last train is rusting and a few wagons are the remains of a prosperous past, when Etén lived essentially from its railroad. It is possible to see the abandoned locomotives behind the municipality. Etén now has a new malecónwith a pontoon that juts out into the sea and a walk to do in the late afternoon. More popular for swimming, but also quieter. Many cevicherias are located here. Perfect for lunch.
