12 km north-east of Chiclayo, the ancient capital of the department of Lambayeque is a mine of archaeological and architectural treasures. In 1720, the Spaniards made it their regional center. From that time, the city has kept some constructions, as shown by the Plaza de Armas where all the buildings are in colonial style. Unfortunately, very few of them have been restored and the small streets are dusty and a bit desolate. It is inevitably on your way for its two museums, of which the most famous, the Señor de Sipan's, is modern and really recommended. You can also have lunch there with happiness. For the rest, pass your way.
