7 km from La Unión, in a setting worthy of Sergio Leone, are these vestiges that reflect the Inca grandeur. Huánuco Viejo, which was born under the reign of Túpac Inca Yupanqui (1460-1480), was a relay on the Cusco-Cajamarca-Quito road and the administrative capital of Chinchaysuyo. Every year on the last Saturday of July, the Sun is celebrated around the Huanuco Raymi.
