To reach this village, 100 km from Cusco, we leave the road leading to Puno to take an auxiliary road that zigzags down to the gates of Manu National Park. Paucartambo has kept its history intact: the cohabitation, then the mixtures, became commonplace between Indians and descendants of conquistadores . The village is also worth visiting for its old Carlos III bridge over the Q'enqomayo river, and for the natural observatory of Tres Cruces on the road above the village that embraces the Amazonian plain. It is the last Andean village before entering the Amazon
