It is not a locality, but one of the most emblematic peaks of the region in the Vilcanota mountain range, southeast of Cusco. It is possible to make a very physical and sublime trek of 5 to 6 days around and at the foot of the nevado Ausangate (6 333 m). This is a route that is too little frequented and far from any help to venture there alone without having a good experience of high altitude trekking. It is important to be already acclimatized to the altitude to avoid suffering too much, the highest point of the trek is at 5,200 meters. It is better to have spent a week in Cusco or a similar altitude so that the body is well accustomed.
