Ollantaytambo is built according to the plans of the Inca cities and the buildings preserved the stone bases of the empire, as the church Santiago Apóstol. In this "seat of the indigenousness", the men wear the traditional costume, which is more and more rare in Peru: short poncho with bangs to the exclusively red and orange colors, small hat tied with a ribbon under the chin. The women are dressed with skirts and fichus of the same tones as their companions and have on the head a small straw hat in the shape of basket, also tied with a ribbon.Beyond the history, the village knew how to keep its traditional lanes lined with Inca canals, the fortress offers plunging views on the landscape and we also take pleasure to discover the granaries situated on the mountain in front of us that we can reach on foot by taking height on the village and the surrounding mountains. For us, it is the most pleasant village to spend a few days in the Sacred Valley because it proposes at the same time walks but also a whole life of village which does not exist if we bubble in one of the lodges of the Valley. It remains very touristy, because it is also here that is located the main station to join Machu Picchu
