Chinchero is the gateway to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, it is also its highest point with an altitude of 3,762 meters. In front of Chinchero, a dirt road leads to the beautiful sites of Moray and Maras. The asphalt road goes down to Urubamba and then Ollantaytambo. The village is rather traditional, which is worth the visit, set on a plateau where corn, potatoes and quinoa alternate with short pastures. The white of the church, the green of the vegetation, the red of the walls compose an impressionist picture against a background of peaks culminating at 6 000 m. A small lake adds a romantic touch.
