Pisaq is the gateway to the valley, at an altitude of 2,970 metres. Famous above all for its Sunday fair, Písaq is also famous for its recently restored archaeological site, a double wealth that attracts more and more tourists every year. Písaq remains a superb village, with its streets paved with pebbles, its plaza de la Constitución shaded by an impressive pisonay, a bearded tree of which there are only about fifty in the whole valley. It is possible to stay there. A visit to the site is in any case a must, and even better if you manage to walk down from the ruins to the village in the middle of the terraces.
