South of Cusco, this archaeological site is part of the Boleto turistico of Cusco. This impressive complex is made up of twelve terraces, a large wall barring the site, buildings with trapezoidal openings, a watchtower that opens onto the valley, was a sanctuary, probably intended for the cult of water (numerous canals, pools and fountains). This setting is one of the most bucolic and fresh around Cusco. Further south, on the edge of the Huacarpay lagoon, we find Pikillacta, well-preserved ruins from the Wari period. Both visits are often combined with the Ruta del Barroco Andino which runs down the southern valley.
