Located on the edge of the historic Velay provinces, Saint-Privat d'Allier is perched on a basalt spur at 875 m altitude. In 2017, the commune merged with Saint-Didier-d'Allier. Halfway between Le Puy-en-Velay and Saugues en Gévaudan, it is the third stage of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela after Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaison, Bains and before Monistrol-d'Allier. This stretch of the route takes you through fabulous landscapes and a rich architectural heritage. You can visit the church with its combed bell tower, the remains of the Château de Mercoeur, the Rochegude chapel and the Eiffel bridge.
