This is the restaurant of the Hotel Os Moinhos and a real culinary favorite in São Jorge! The restaurant offers superbly prepared traditional dishes. Most of the produce comes from the garden, and you can really taste it on the plate! The São Jorge cheese-crusted veal is to die for, and the setting (an old restored farmhouse) is marvellous; in short, this is without doubt the best restaurant on the island. The service is attentive and efficient. Add to this the view of Pico and Faial, and you've got everything you need for a culinary treat in a quiet setting...

A little way from the center of Velas, a young and friendly address offering very good daily specials at democratic prices, cooked exclusively with fresh, local produce. The menu also includes excellent burgers served in the traditional Azorean bun, the bolo levedo, which here is homemade, as are the accompanying fries. Open from early morning, you can also enjoy breakfast here, surrounded by the lively chatter of the Velas locals, who really appreciate this excellent little address.

In the pedestrian street of Velas, a restaurant with a warm decor, where an open kitchen allows you to admire Luisa at work behind her stove. Tuna steak, suckling pig, octopus... Luisa proposes a traditional Portuguese cuisine where everything, up to the fries, is home-made. The fish and meat come from the island. If the cooking is of quality, the prices of the menu remain quite moderate. Let us add to that that the reception is very sympathetic. You will have understood it, it is an excellent address on Velas.

In front of the square of the São Jorge church. Good cuisine and attentive service. A very popular address for locals. It's quite simple, but the quality and quantities are there. For a change, if it is à la carte, we recommend the delicious Brazilian picanha dish (grilled beef). You can also try the pineapple and cheese pizza from São Jorge. The terrace is pleasant. The room is like the kitchen, simple! The wait to be served to be a little long. For a lunch break, this place is fine.
