The best bars and cafés Horta

Not to be missed. Some go to the Azores, others go to Peter's Bar, as it is commonly called. Peter's Bar is a real institution: you can eat, visit the Scrimshaw museum on the ^first floor, get lost in the memories of all the sailors who have passed through, buy postcards, receive your mail if you have a boat in the harbour, look for a boarding, listen to the gossip of the sea, drink a gin and tonic, arrive early in the morning, leave late in the evening, come back often in between... As you can see, it's a must.

A magnificent old building overlooking the port, with a large terrace at the back to let you enjoy the last rays of the sun. Wine, house cocktails, tapas and craft beer, l'Océanic is the perfect place to enjoy an aperitif, then end the evening dancing the night away. Concerts are organized every weekend, and it's here that the island's trendy youth gather to party. Note that the posters of marine animals on the walls are all on sale in the store next door.

Facing the Horta marina, in the heart of the town's naval club, this friendly bar overlooks the port. Thanks to its terrace, it's a pleasant place for an aperitif: you can sip a cocktail or a beer while enjoying the view over the water, or even grab a bite to eat! The menu features mainly burgers and pastas, with sauces made from local products such as São Jorge cheese. Some good desserts too. The service is friendly and accommodating, and vegetarians are welcome! Good value for money.
