Atlanticoline operates year-round services between Faial, Pico and São Jorge. Horta has direct connections to Madalena and São Roque on Pico. To reach São Jorge, a stopover is necessary. From June to September, a larger boat connects all the islands in the central group, with a circular itinerary that starts in Horta and passes through Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira (white line). The purple line, also operational in summer, runs from Horta to Madalena (Pico), Calheta (São Jorge) and Angra (Terceira).

TAP Air Portugal is one of the airlines able to take you to the Azores from Paris, Lyon, Nantes, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille or Nice. After a stopover in Lisbon or Porto, you can choose to land in Ponta Delgada (island of São Miguel), Horta (island of Faial), Madalena (island of Pico) or Lajes (island of Terceira). You can then fly to other islands with SATA Azores Airlines. Inter-island connections are relatively good, but flights can be disrupted by the sometimes capricious weather conditions in the Azores.

A serious rental company, present at various locations on the island: airport, ferry terminal, city center... It has a fleet of over one hundred cars of recent makes and models, and offers efficient service at reasonable prices. All rentals come with unlimited mileage, and you can take your car on the ferry to Pico and São Jorge if you want to visit these islands by car without having to rent again. In high season, count € 22 per day + € 0,22 per km or € 40 per km unlimited for a category A (Seat Arosa).

The local bus company operates 8 routes from Monday to Saturday. Two routes run between Horta and Castelo Branco (one of which also serves Pedregulho and Flamengos), a third runs north to Ribeira Funda, a fourth runs south to Ribeira Funda, and another covers the towns closest to Horta (Pedro Miguel and Praia do Almoxarife). On the other hand, the frequency of these routes is quite low, making bus travel a laborious business.

A different and really fun way to discover the island of Faial. To make the most of the splendid scenery, with your hair blowing in the wind, why not think about renting a scooter? Located a stone's throw from the Mercado Municipal, this rental company offers recent, well-maintained vehicles. The agency is serious. We really recommend this option if you're comfortable on two wheels.
