At the end of the th century, Saint-Paulien-Russeio lost his title as the capital of Velay to bequeath it to Anicium -Le Puy-en-Velay- (see introduction du Puy en Velay). However, the city has a majestic Romanesque church of the th century, modified indoors in the th century. It is discernible in some ancient capitals of Celtic influences (three-head deities), while outside are reused materials of Gallo-Roman origin, including a remarkable taurobolique altar. In parallel to the permanent collections, the Friends of the Museum Association sometimes exhibits thematic exhibitions.
