The church, with its white facade and square, massive basalt bell tower, proudly overlooks the square from the top of the monumental steps leading to the gate. It was consecrated in 1517. In the sacristy is a small museum of sacred art that displays a beautiful 16th century Flemish triptych representing Saint Andrew. A beautiful establishment that deserves a visit if you are in Ribeira Grande. This is where people from all over the world come to worship the "Imagem do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres" mainly in mid-May.
