Proud Sada - where the houses are spread out over the hillside down to the beach and the center - is dominated by a minaret. Sada is proud because many families claim to be descendants of the Sharifs, the lineage of the Prophet, the first Arabs to come and Islamize the island. This beautiful town built on a hillside is worth a stop; go down to the heart of the town, part of the spirit of Mayotte is here, between the minaret, the beach and the many craftsmen. A craft association specializes in basketry, with among other things the famous Sada hats that can be bought and are very practical to protect yourself from the sun. You can also visit some jewelry workshops where the jewelry is made from gold brought back from Mecca by the Hajjs. They are often the dowry for big weddings... Don't hesitate to ask the villagers to point them out to you, because they are rarely noticed. An advice for people who are not comfortable with the road, to avoid being trapped in the small streets of Sada which sometimes turn into dead ends and sometimes turn into one-way streets: it is better to leave the car at the entrance of the city and to walk through it. Another alternative is to leave the city center on your right and to go along a beautiful road overlooking its heights, where you can admire its beautiful islet facing the beach and from where you can sometimes see Anjouan in the distance on the horizon.
