From this Key, you are on one of the longest bridges in the United States: the Seven Mile Bridge, which is almost 11 km long. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Knight's Key was the terminus of the Florida Overseas Railroad, before being replaced by Key West. It was also an important fishing port. Knight's Key was named after the first settler, a gentleman named Knight. It is attached to the municipality of Marathon, which is much larger in terms of area. Two successful movies were filmed in Knight's Key: the James Bond movie License to Kill (1989) and True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger (1992).
