Ribeira Brava appears as a big town (more than 13,000 inhabitants) whose main interest is to be located on the road that goes north. To go to São Vicente, this is the place to turn. The seaside has been recently refurbished and offers a swimming pool, umbrellas, palm trees and a place to lay your towel. The few cobbled streets in the center are nice, but the merchants have taken over every bit of land to accommodate the tour buses. Apart from its ethnographic museum, its fort and its chapel da Conceição, the city does not offer any particular interest. On the other hand, in the evening, when the onlookers have packed their bags, the charm works.
