From a terminal above the rotunde do Infante, Avenida Gulbenkian, west of the city heart, the Sociedade de Automóveis da Madeira serves the east of the island, airport (Aerobus) and, in particular, the following localities: Caniço, Santa Cruz, Santo da Serra, Machico, Porto da Cruz, Faial and Caniçal.

Departures are from the Jardim do Almirante Reis located in the middle of Dom Carlos I street, near the seafront. Convenient and popular to visit the church of Monte or the Tropical Park Monte Palace. The cable car offers superb views of the bay of Funchal from over 3,000 metres. The ascent takes about 15 minutes. Free for children up to 6 years old. You can then extend the experience by climbing the cable car up to the Botanical Garden or descending in carreiros do Monte (typical wicker sledges).

About 20 km from Funchal city centre. Madeira Airport is famous for its impressive landings, occasionally disrupted by powerful gusts of wind. Nestled between the mountains and the ocean, the runway is partly supported by a huge forest of reinforced concrete pillars (180 in total!). All car rental agencies have a counter on site. You will also find a tourist office where you can get maps and information.
