This small island has a scent of cumin, to which it owes its name. Its assets are undeniable: water, sun, a surface area of less than 3 km2, a defense tower built during the reign of Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt in the 17th century, and the secret charm of its blue lagoon, once a pirate hideout. Away from the Blue Lagoon, it's a tranquil place. Generally bare, the islet is covered with a dazzling carpet of flowers in spring. Comino is fully listed in the European Natura 2000 network for the preservation of natural areas.
