The city of Saâles, like the rest of the region, is one of the symbols of Alsace's tearing apart between France and Germany, particularly during the War of 1870 and the First World War. This village of 850 inhabitants is also known for its many fountains, there are no less than 25 of them scattered here and there at the corner of an alley or on a square!
