From there, you can enjoy a light-filled aperitif - those of the surrounding hotels - on a small, intimate balcony, out of sight and very romantic, around an assortment of mezzés ranging from gjena tal-bzan (cheese) to kapunata (ratatouille), all to be spread on crunchy mize dips (Maltese bread). For the hungrier, the traditional menu will do the trick. Finding a Maltese address in St Julians is almost a feat!

The Mediterranean and Italian specialties and fish are really well prepared, and the portions generous. What's more, you'll enjoy watching the cooks busy themselves with the order you've just placed. A word of advice: try the seafood platter to whet your appetite. A good address where the chefs have a know-how that is rare on the island.

Meat lovers are not forgotten, thanks to chicken with gorgonzola and grilled chops with herbs and mushrooms. Enjoy the sea view, with a sunroof in summer.
