The best restaurants St Julian’s

A well-known address among locals, hidden by the impressive number of restaurants overlooking beautiful Spinola Bay. The staff in their orange and blue uniforms will probably suggest you sit inside, but insist on a place on the upstairs terrace, one of the restaurant's attractions. From there, you can enjoy a light-filled aperitif - those of the surrounding hotels - on a small, intimate balcony, out of sight and very romantic, around an assortment of mezzés ranging from gjena tal-bzan (cheese) to kapunata (ratatouille), all to be spread on crunchy mize dips (Maltese bread). For the hungrier, the traditional menu will do the trick. Finding a Maltese address in St Julians is almost a feat!

Just next to the San Giuliano, because it is part of the same family, this restaurant serves local specialities, but also pizzas, pasta, historical, salads… A priority advisor to be able to return before the end of the stay.

The warm interior is as pleasant as the outer space, just steps away from the boats. Here, the flavours of the Mediterranean (from west to east) are of honour. A restaurant with an elegant, jazzy atmosphere in a decor colored by the works of art hanging on the wall and the blown glass available for sale here and there. The Mediterranean and Italian specialties and fish are really well prepared, and the portions generous. What's more, you'll enjoy watching the cooks busy themselves with the order you've just placed. A word of advice: try the seafood platter to whet your appetite. A good address where the chefs have a know-how that is rare on the island.

It continues to specialize in seafood and fish, with options including red tuna, prawns and smoked octopus, as well as sharing platters of oysters and sturgeon caviar. Meat lovers are not forgotten, thanks to chicken with gorgonzola and grilled chops with herbs and mushrooms. Enjoy the sea view, with a sunroof in summer.
