CHATEAU D'ARTIAS
One of the oldest in the Velay region serving as a reception and exhibition area, and a botanical garden with medicinal plants.
It is one of the oldest in the Velay region, first mentioned in the year 1000. Initially an independent property, it passed through the hands of several baronies until 1789. Abandoned, it was bought by a quarryman. Today, only the remains of a tower remain. The Romanesque chapel was built in the 12th century, and the entrance door dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. Since 2003, volunteers from the Amis d'Artias association have been cleaning up, clearing undergrowth and restoring the two-hectare site. They have built a house, which serves as a reception area and exhibition space, and landscaped a botanical garden with medicinal plants and an open-air theater. In 2011, they inaugurated an orientation table offering a magnificent view of the Loire Gorge.
