Hotel in downtown Carmel with ocean view rooms and decorated common areas with an outdoor courtyard

Established in 1929, it is the hotel of the actress Doris Day: everywhere you will find portraits of her or posters of her movies. A beautiful establishment in downtown Carmel, some rooms have fireplaces, others have ocean views. Doris Day is an avid animal rights activist, so your four-legged friends are more than welcome to have their own beds and treats. The common areas are decorated with grace and charm, with a relaxing outdoor courtyard full of flowers.

I was really disappointed with the state that this hotel was in. The employees were all kind and I can give them that. The hotel however was rundown and didnt live up to the price of the suite we got. This used to be a beautiful hotel. It’s now rundown, ridden hard and put away wet. In addition the finishes and furniture were cheap. From the plastic patio chairs to the piecemeal furniture and finishes in the rooms, it was all just meh. This hotel needs help desperately from a designer.

Historic and beautiful inn, owned by Doris Day, in downtown Carmel. Well known as a social gathering place and for its dog-friendly hospitality. Has excellent bar and restaurant, too. A place not to be missed.

Hands down best dog-friendly place to stay, eat, and consume adult beverages.
Lunch and dinner are always good. Brunch was a bit disappointing. Bring your well behaved pooch, or just come to meet some, and enjoy a lovely patio or sit inside in Terry's Lounge with your dog.
