Urban lake in Oakland with a water sports center, children's amusement park, and a walking/jogging trail.
Lake Merritt is a surprisingly tidal urban lake that is great for walking and picnicking. It has grassy shores and several man-made islands for bird sanctuaries. There is a water sports center and a children's amusement park, Children's Fairyland. A walking and jogging trail runs along the perimeter of the park, which is almost 5 km long. It is possible to rent a boat for the day at the boating center to go on a mini cruise. A great way to get some fresh air before heading back to the streets of Oakland.

Agréable balade
Le Lake Merritt en plein centre d'Oakland est le lieu des sportifs. Vous y croiserez, vélos, skate, trottinette, joggeur... Attention à vous les touristes, ne gênez pas les sportifs, même si l'espace se partage. C'est agréable de s'y promener. Si vous vous engagez à faire le tour complet du lac, bon courage, car il paraît pas si grand que ça, et quand on commence, la marche est interminable, mais reposante.
