CATHEDRAL OF SAINT MARY OF ASSUMPTION
Petit Futé's opinion on CATHEDRAL OF SAINT MARY OF ASSUMPTION
This concrete cathedral built in 1972 has become a landmark in San Francisco. The modern design of American architect Pietro Belluschi, allied to the sacred dimension of space, attracts thousands of people every year. The strange form of a science fiction film stems from the geometric design which creates a graceful structure in a graceful curved dome of 58 m. Large windows offer spectacular views of the city. Very good acoustics for concerts of classical music and organ. Drama and terrifying.
