Northern California's Latino community goes wild for Cinqo de Mayo (May 5), the wild fiesta that celebrates the victory of the Mexican Republican Army led by General Ignacio Zaragoza over the forces of the conservative Mexican government and the expeditionary corps of the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Celebrated throughout the region, including San Francisco in the Mission district on Valencia Street. And don't worry, the French are more than welcome to join the party!
