Overlooking the lake, this campground is an excellent option. Amidst lush vegetation that is home to tuis, fantails and other endemic New Zealand birds, the cottages have a charming rustic country feel. The wide range of accommodations caters to all budgets, with classic pitches, bunkhouses, cabins, trailers and motel rooms. Ideally located next to the mouth of the Lower Waiau River, it is only a 20-minute drive from Te Anau.

Le Possum Lodge est familial. Le prix est plus correct que notre camping deluxe de la veille (42$ contre 55). Et surtout, nous sommes peu nombreux, le lac Manapouri est tout proche du lac (même si on ne voit pas le lac du camping). Les sanitaires sont propres même si ce n’est pas le summum du modernisme. L’accueil est cordial.
