DUSKY TRACK

It is the longest of the park's tracks and is intended for experienced hikers. It starts at Lake Manapouri and ends at Lake Hauroko, or vice versa. If you choose to follow the route to Hauroko Lake, it is imperative to plan your return in advance. The trail crosses two passes (Centre Pass and Furkert Pass) and is quite often flooded during heavy rains. You should not forget your gas burner and the appropriate refills, because finding dry wood is almost impossible. The huts are managed by the DOC.
