This museum has a rich collection of Maori art and focuses on the human and natural history of the Otago and Aotearoa region. The museum features Polynesian and Melanesian galleries as well as beautiful Maori prints. There are many varied and informative sections and it is easy to spend some time here. It is one of the best attractions in the city. The museum contains a very old collection of objects. It is organized in several parts: the Hocken wing, the Willi Fels wing, the HD Skinner annex.

Très beau musée avec une bonne muséographie pour toutes les collections. L'exposition consacrée au tremblement de terre de Christchurch est poignant. Baliser une journée entière si vous souhaitez profiter de l'intégralité des collections, le musée est immense !
