"Te Whare Toi" ("house of the arts") in Maori, the building alone is worth the detour, imposing and majestic, overlooking Civic Square with its Art Deco architecture. Inside, the City Gallery is undoubtedly one of the best art galleries in the country, both cutting-edge and always well-stocked, thanks to good acquisitions and interesting temporary exhibitions. The works on display span many eras, styles and artists, both New Zealand and international. The gallery has just been renovated during 2018.

J'ai passé deux mois à Wellington. Cette ville regorge de musées et galleries! La city gallerie est gratuite, compter une heure de visite pour l'exposition permanente. Elle se situe pas loin de la mer, assez proche du musée te papa qui est lui aussi gratuit. Il y a des expositions temporaires et événements parfois. a voir sur leur site web.
