With art pieces from several eras to the present, the Tauranga Art Gallery is an opportunity to experience the culture and heritage of the Bay Area with a visit that is a little different from outdoor activities. Opened in 2007, it mainly honors artists from New Zealand or with a connection to the country. Temporary exhibitions are also organized throughout the year. The building of the gallery is a museum in itself, indeed it is the old building of the Bank of New Zealand dating from the 1870s.
